Henry Havelock Ellis 1859 - 1939
Henry Havelock Ellis was an English physician, writer, progressive intellectual and social reformer who studied human sexuality. He co-wrote the first medical textbook in English on same-sex relationships in 1897 and also published works on a variety of sexual practices, as well as on transgender psychology. He is also credited with introducing the notions of narcissism and autoeroticism later adopted by psychoanalysis.

Richard Von Kraft - Ebing was a German psychiatrist. He studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg where he specialized in psychiatry. After leaving his work in asylums , he pursued a carrier in psychiatry, forensics and hypnosis. He was recognized as an authority on deviant sexual behaviour and its medical-legal aspects.

Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis. He postulated the existence of libido sexualized energy with which mental processes generates erotic attachments, and the source of compulsive repetition, hate, aggression and neurotic guilt. In his later work Freud developed a wide-ranging interpretation and critique of religion and culture.

Theodoor Hendrik Van de Velde was a Dutch physician and gynecologist who served as director at the Gynecological Institute in Haarlem. He is famous for his book Het Volkomen Huwelijk (The Perfect Marriage) made him an instant international celebrity. The book advocated knowledge and sensuality in erotic life. It was placed on the list of forbidden books. In 1905 was was credited with showing that women ovulate once per menstrual cycle. This contributed to the improvement of calendar-based methods of birth control and other methods of fertility methods.
