STDs are caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites. Symptoms in Women: Abnormal vaginal bleeding (between periods or after sex). Thick discolored, or bad-smelling discharge, pelvic or lower abdominal pain. Symptoms in men: ome STD infections are asymptomatic, meaning people may have no symptoms while still being able to transmit the infection. Systemic signs include: Fever, muscle aches, swollen glands and fatigue. STD symptoms include painful urination, unusual genital discharge, sores or rashes around the genitals/anus and pelvic pain. Other indicators can include itching, burning, flu-like symptoms (fever, fatigue), and pain during sex.
